Moccamaster alternatives: certified coffee for less, or the same warranty

Updated by Isadora Venn. Links to Amazon earn us a commission (how that works).

People looking for Moccamaster alternatives usually want one of two things: the same certified brewing for less money, or the same long-lived build with a feature the Moccamaster lacks. Both lists are short, and both are below.

Quick picks

Certified by the SCA and priced below a Moccamaster.

Short answer

The best Moccamaster alternative is the OXO Brew 8-Cup: SCA certified, thermal carafe, single-serve basket, at a little over half the price. The cheapest alternative to Moccamaster on the certified list is the KRUPS Essential Brewer.

What you give up with the cheaper machines is mostly warranty. Moccamaster offers five years; OXO offers two. If longevity is why you wanted a Moccamaster, the Ratio Six matches its warranty instead of undercutting its price.

The OXO 8-Cup is the closest match on evidence: certified by the SCA in 2025 and recommended by America's Test Kitchen. It also fixes two Moccamaster complaints, since its carafe is thermal and it brews a single mug properly.

Brew with this if you wanted a Moccamaster for the coffee, not for the badge on the front.

Choose another if the five-year warranty was the main draw; OXO offers two years. See Ratio Six Series 2 on Amazon

Bonavita's Enthusiast sits on the SCA's 2026 list and brews a 40 oz pot in under 7 minutes, according to its listing. It adds an optional bloom and a stainless thermal carafe, which the KBGV Select lacks.

Brew with this if you want a Moccamaster-sized pot in a thermal carafe for less money.

Choose another if you need a confirmed warranty; the Bonavita listing doesn't state one. See Moccamaster KBGV Select on Amazon

The KRUPS Essential is the least expensive certified machine we logged. It's an 8-cup brewer with a glass carafe and a descale light. Its parts are dishwasher safe.

Brew with this if certification on the smallest budget is the goal.

Choose another if you want thermal; this one keeps coffee warm on a plate for up to two hours. See OXO Brew 8-Cup on Amazon

What you give up

Warranty. This is the biggest loss, and it's worth pausing on, because the main reason many people save up for a Moccamaster in the first place is the expectation that it will still be brewing a decade from now. Two years for OXO, none stated on the Bonavita and KRUPS listings, against five for Moccamaster.

Build. Moccamaster's reputation for running for many years isn't something a listing can prove, but its warranty backs it in writing. The cheaper machines may last as long; they just don't promise it.

Speed. The Moccamaster's 4 to 6 minute pot is among the fastest. The Bonavita quotes under 7. Others don't say.

What you gain. Thermal carafes on the OXO and Bonavita. A single-serve basket on the OXO. Money left over for a burr grinder, which will improve your coffee more than the price difference between these brewers ever could.

Worries

Does it get the water hot enough?

Every alternative on this page is on the SCA list, so temperature isn't a compromise.

OXO Brew 8-Cup (2025), Bonavita Enthusiast (2026), KRUPS Essential (2025), per the SCA certified list.

How long will it last, and can it be repaired?

Here's where the cheaper options fall short of a Moccamaster.

Moccamaster and Ratio: 5 years. OXO: 2 years. Bonavita and KRUPS: not stated on their listings.
